On Friday the Alberta Junior Hockey League announced the schedule for its 53rd season. After opening training camp on August 26th, the Sherwood Park Crusaders will begin their first of eight Exhibition Games on August 31st in Camrose against the Kodiaks in a Pre Season Tournament. That tournament will also see the Crusaders battle the Kindersley Clippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The first Home Game of the Crusaders Exhibition schedule will be Tuesday September 6th against the Spruce Grove Saints. Sherwood Park’s Exhibition schedule concludes September 10th back in Camrose against the Kodiaks.
On Friday September 16th the Crusaders will open their 40th season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and their 38th in Sherwood Park with a home and home beginning at the Sherwood Park Arena against the team that has eliminated them from the Post Season the last four years, the Spruce Grove Saints.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s annual Showcase returns to Camrose, and Sherwood Park will quite their hands full as they battle the Okotoks Oilers on Thursday
September 29th at 8:00 PM and the Brooks Bandits on Saturday October 1st at 3:30 PM. Both games at the Encana Arena in Camrose.
The Crusaders will first clash with their other 2016 Gas Drive Cup Playoff opponent, the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Wednesday October 19th.
One of the most entertaining games the past few seasons has been when the Brooks Bandits visit the Sherwood Park Arena, that will occur Sunday December 4th at 2:15 PM.
Sherwood Park will wrap up the 2016 portion of the Schedule on Wednesday December 21st at home against the Lloydminster Bobcats.
The holiday break will be from December 22nd to the 29th, 2016
The Crusaders start up 2017 against the Grande Prairie Storm on Wednesday January 4th, 2017.
The CJHL/AJHL Trade Deadline in January 10th, 2017.
Seven of the final eight games for the Crusaders will be on the road, wrapping up with games in Grande Prairie and Whitecourt on March 3rd and 4th of 2017
The 2017 Gas Drive Cup Playoffs begin Thursday March 9th, 2017
At home the Crusaders will play 10 Games on Wednesday’s, six on both Friday’s and Saturday’s and seven times on Sunday for a total of 29 home dates in 2016-17.
