The Sherwood Park Crusaders was back on home ice after spending the last three games on the road. The opponents were the Lloydminster Bobcats who came into the game with a 5-11-3 record and were eighth in the North Division.
Before puck drop, Carter Savoie was named the Southside Chiropractic Player of the Month after scoring 23 points in October.
Once the game got underway, the Crusaders found themselves on an early powerplay with Brody Madarash being called for the tripping. On the resulting powerplay, the Bobcats were the ones to draw first blood shorthanded when Tucker Scantlebury found himself clean through on goal. However, just 22 seconds later Carter Savoie pulled the Crusaders level with his team-leading 16th goal.
Onto the second period where the Crusaders would open up the floodgates. The scoring began for Sherwood Park on the penalty kill. Cameron Aucoin made a sneaky play coming out of the bench which caught the Bobcats off guard leaving him one-on-one with Lloydminster’s goaltender. That was Aucoin’s fourth of the season. Shortly after, Lloydminster failed to clear the zone due to great pressure from the Crusaders. That play resulted in a turnover which then turned in a goal by Garrett Clegg to make it 3-1. Hunter Lamb pulled one back for the away team, but Tyson Scott regained his teams two-goal lead back on the powerplay making it 4-2 after 40 minutes.
It was a fairly equal third with both teams having their opportunities. With around five minutes to go, Lloydminster pulled there netminder in an attempt to get back into the game. However, that plan backfired on them and Crusaders ended up scoring two empty-netters from Clegg and Brayden Hyland.
Final score at the Sherwood Park Arena ends with the Crusaders coming away 6-2 victors. Garrett Clegg and Carter Savoie both had three-point nights offensively, and between the pipes, Carter Gylander made 22 saves for his sixth win of the season.
