Earlier today, the Canadian Junior Hockey League announced the cancellation of the 2019/2020 season.
In a release sent out earlier this morning, the league announced that all hockey-related activities, including respective League Playoffs, the CJHL?s four regional championship events (Fred Page Cup; Dudley-Hewitt Cup; ANAVET Cup; Doyle Cup) and the Centennial Cup Canadian National Junior A Championship will not be held for the 2019/2020 season.
This follows the CJHL’s announcement yesterday that all Hockey Canada-sanctioned activities, including all Hockey Alberta league games, playoffs, practices, camps and Provincial, Regional & National Championships were cancelled at the Minor, Female, Jr, Sr & Sledge levels.
Unfortunately, this means that the Sherwood Park Crusaders 2019/2020 season has now concluded. Of course, the news was disappointing; after the most successful statistical season in franchise history, the entire organization was eager to fill the Sherwood Park Arena in pursuit of the first championship in our 41-year history. However, the health and safety of our players, staff, volunteers, fans and community as a whole is of paramount importance, and the decision made by the CJHL is met with wholehearted support from the entire organization.
To our sponsors, billets, volunteers, players’ families and the entire community of Sherwood Park, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support throughout the entire season. Though today’s decision may be a sad one, it is a necessary one as we do what’s best for the general public.
The Crusaders office will remain closed to the public until further notice. Ticket refunds for the previously-scheduled playoff games, including playoff packages, will be addressed in the near future.
Further updates will be made as more information becomes available. For any questions or comments, please contact Crusaders marketing and media director Spencer Love at 780-913-2185 or email@example.com
