Arnold, Hagan lead Crusaders in loss

It’s early, but November has not been kind to the Sherwood Park Crusaders so far.

The Cru open up the month with a trip to Spruce Grove to meet the Saints, and attempt to correct the two losses in Fort McMurray the weekend before. Luigi Benincasa opened up the scoring early in the first, but Evan Arnold and Ashton McNelly both found the back of the net before time ran out in the frame. The second period saw teams trade goals back and forth, the Cru markers coming from Austin Cook and Logan Hauer, but found themselves in a tie after 40 minutes. Penalty trouble struck in the third, Jayden Davis pots two on the powerplay, and an empty netter to top off the evening with a 7-4 decision going the way of the Saints. Marek Pocherewny made the start, making 22 of 29 saves.

Sherwood Park heads back home Friday to take on the Grande Prairie Storm, where Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen will have the call on HockeyTV. Tickets can be purchased at tickets.sherwoodparkcrusaders.ca.
