Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders took care of business in their midweek matchup versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
In front of their home fans, the Crusaders offence put five goals by Evan Fradette in the Oil Barons goal. The first three all came in the first period with two coming from Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville). Zapernick has now scored 17 points in his last 7 games for the Crusaders. Blake Sylowski also scored in the first period to take his tally to seven on the year.
In the second period, Sherwood Park conceded two goals from Michael Hodge and Max Struss which pulled Fort McMurray within one goal heading into the final intermission.
However, in the third period, captain Arjun Atwal scored the insurance goal to give the Crusaders 4-2 lead with just under ten minutes to play. Connor Hart also got in on the action with his third goal in four games.
Next up, the Crusaders take on the Bonnyville Pontiacs in their final home game before the Christmas break. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. at the Sherwood Park Arena this Saturday.
