Atwal’s shootout goal wins it for the Cru

The Sherwood Park Crusaders made it five wins in a row on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 4-3 in a shootout in one of the most entertaining games of the 2018/2019 season.

Carter Savoie extended his goalscoring streak to five games and had his first two-goal game of his young career. His linemate, Garrett Clegg also got in on the scoring action with his fifth goal of the season. Since returning from the USHL, the second year Cru forward has 13 points in 8 games. William Zapernick and Arjun Atwal both had two-point afternoons with a pair of assists each.

The game made it all the way to overtime, and further with neither team able to break the deadlock.

Finally, in round three of the shootout, Arjun Atwal scored to give the Crusaders the goal ahead lead. At the other end, Matt Berlin shut the door in the shootout to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Sherwood Park's win streak has now extended to five in a row.
