Bobcats Walk Over Cru

LLOYDMINSTER, AB – Bobcats Forward Kobe Walker led the way with four points including a hat trick as Lloydminster defeated the Sherwood Park Crusaders 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the Border City.

The second consecutive loss by the Crusaders was Lloydminster’s first victory over Sherwood Park this season.

Walker would open up the scoring for the Bobcats on a power play at 11:27 of the first period as he beat Crusader Goaltender Brandon Vogel over the right shoulder in the high slot.

Sherwood Park would even the scoring at 14:14 of the second as Ryan Cox netted his team leading 29th goal of the season and 21st as a Crusader.

The blow would come in the dying seconds of the middle period, much like the Crusaders scoring late period goals last Friday in Canmore, Kobe Walker would score his second of the game on a two on one with .01 seconds left in the frame to regain the lead for Lloydminster and give the Bobcats momentum heading into the third.

With 10 shots for each team in the third period, it was the Bobcats that took advantage and pulled away.

Just over three and a half minutes into the period, Forward Zach Kaiser would make it 3-1 and later in the aforementioned time, Walker would complete the hat trick.

The Crusaders special teams continued to plague them as they went zero for four on the power play and have been held scoreless on their last 16 attempts.

The Crusaders get a quick day to re-tool and begin a stretch of six straight games against the Viterra South Division on Friday as they host the Olds Grizzlys.
