Carter Gylander and Jordan Frey Named Top Team Goaltenders

Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that goaltenders Carter Gylander and Jordan Frey have won the Top Team Goaltending Award for the 2019/20 season.

Gylander, a native of Beaumont, Atla., has played 39 games for the Cru this season and has a record of 33-5-0. He has also grabbed three shutouts and has a save percentage of 0.924%. As a result, the Cru have conceded the fewest goals this season (128).

He represented the AJHL and Canada as a member of Team Canada West at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge and the 2019 Junior Club World Cup in Russia.


The Detroit Red Wings selected the 18-year-old in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL draft (191st overall). He has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Colgate University for the 2020/21 season.

Frey, 19, is in his first season with Sherwood Park after they acquired him from the La Ronge Ice Wolves (SJHL) last summer. The Saskatoon native has played 21 games with a record of 15-4-0 and has recorded two shutouts. Frey finished the year with a fifth in both save percentage and goals against average with a 0.913 SV% and a 2.35 GAA.

After 58 games, the Crusaders finished with the fewest goals against in the league with 128.
