SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that Carter Gylander has been named the AJHL’s Top Goaltender for the 2019/2020 season.
Gylander joins Chris Denman (2002/2003) Dean Crossland (94/95), Ken Weiss (86/87) and Garth Sanderson (85/86) as Crusaders to be recognized as the AJHL’s outstanding goaltender.
Gylander, a 2001-born goaltender, has been a stabalizing force for the Crusaders since playing his first game for the organization in 2018. Now in his second full season with the Crusaders, the Beaumont native has posted a 50-9 record throughout 63 games played. This year, the Colgate University commit has truly elevated his game to the next level, posting a remarkable 33-5-0 record and leading the Crusaders to their second straight North Division title. Gylander also leads the league in both goals against average (2.10) and save percentage (.923) among goaltenders with at least 15 games played. Last summer, Gylander was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 7th round (191st overall).
Gylander joins Arjun Atwal (MVP) and Michael Benning (Outstanding Defenceman) as winners of league awards this season.
The Crusaders would like to congratulate Carter and the entire Gylander family on his accomplishment.
