Cru Continue Road Stretch

The Crusaders continue their 3 game road stretch with a visit to the border city Wednesday night to take on the Lloydminster Bobcats.  It’s the first meeting of the season between the 2 clubs, and the Cru will be looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games.

The Crusaders won their 3rd game in a row last Friday with a 3-2 victory in Bonnyville over the Pontiacs.

“We had the best 1st period in Bonnyville that I have seen in years. We then proceed to be just average in the last 2 periods but overall it was a back and forth Pontiacs, Crusader game.”  Says Head Coach and GM Tim Fragle recapping the game.

Amidst the winning streak the Cru have had goals on the Power Play in every game this season.  Fragle has been pleased with his squad’s special team play not only on the PP but also a Penalty Kill that is ranked 2nd in the league at 95.6%.  He is however, still looking for more out of his special team units.

“Overall special teams have been good. Still believe our power play has a lot more to contribute.”

Part of the success in Friday’s win was the secondary scoring, both Cameron Brezinski and Daniel Wray scored the first Crusader goals.  Fragle would like to see more on offense in other areas.

“We need to have offense throughout the forward lineup & from the defense if we plan on having success this year.”

The Crusaders went 1 and 1 in the Pre Season versus Lloydminster and the Bobcats always pose a danger on home ice.

“Lloyd is very aggressive checking team…similar to Bonnyville and good at home. We will need to have a few good days of practice to be ready.”  Fragle said Tuesday.
