The Sherwood Park Crusaders and Spruce Grove Saints met for the first time this season at the Sherwood Park Arena just one day after the Crusaders defeated the Saints 4-3 at the Grant Fuhr Arena.
On the night, it was a highly competitive game with neither team wanting to give the other the edge. Both goaltenders made 29 stops and each put in an excellent performance making 29 saves apiece. Unfortunately for Sherwood Park, the Saints were able to get two by Matt Berlin to give themselves a 2-0 victory with goals coming from Nick Leyer and Parker Saretsky.
The Crusaders had a few chances with two shots hitting the post and one cleared off the line.
The loss is Berlin's first regulation loss as a member of the Crusaders. The defeat also ends the Crusaders season-high seven game win streak.
