SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders have acquired goaltender Josh Dechaine from the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the SJHL.
Dechaine, a St Albert native, has spent time in the AJHL before with the Whitecourt Wolverines, but most recently played in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
In 19 games for the Oil Kings, the 6 foot 1 goaltender post a 3.71 goals against average, a .886 save percentage, and had four WHL wins to his name.
“We’re getting a 19-year old goalie with a ton of experience, both in the AJHL and WHL,” said Crusaders general manager Kyle Chase. “We’re looking to shore up our net. We’ve struggled (in goal) over the last few years and with Vogel and Dechaine we’ll have a solid tandem in net.”
Dechaine will be familiar with a couple of his teammates after he played for the St Albert Raiders Midget AAA team with defencemen Brendan Kallis and Kole Bryks.
The Crusaders are next in action this Saturday against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons at the Casman Centre in Fort McMurray.
