Crusaders acquire Jack Hamly from Fort McMurray

The Sherwood Park Crusaders have acquired 1998 F Jack Hamly (Sherwood Park, AB) from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in exchange for 1999 F Tyson Scott (Turner Valley, AB).

“We felt we needed to get bigger down the middle and Hamly provides that. He’ll contribute to our offence and also be key in the faceoff circle for us down the stretch,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “He’s a big body who plays heavy, and we’re excited to have him as part of our mix. We know his leadership and character is unquestioned just like Tyson Scott”.

Hamly, 20, is an experienced player with 179 AJHL games played – 40 with the Spruce Grove Saints and 139 with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons – throughout his four years in the league. In the 2016-17 season, he received an invite to the Team Canada West camp for the World Junior A Challenge; Hamly then went onto have a career year in Fort McMurray, scoring 36 points (8 goals, 28 assists) in 55 games.  This season, the 6”1”, 190 lbs centreman has 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists) in 24 games along with 69 penalty minutes, all with the Oil Barons.

“We’d like to thank Tyson (Scott) for all he’s done for the Sherwood Park Crusaders organization,” said Kyle Chase. “He’s a fantastic kid and a great teammate. We wish him all the best in Fort McMurray”.

Fans can catch the Crusaders in action on Friday against the Whitecourt Wolverines. The team will be streamed taking a fan bus to the game. Tickets for that game are available here.
