SHERWOOD PARK, AB – Home ice is starting to become a positive thing for the Sherwood Park Crusaders, with only three wins at the Sherwood Park Arena in the first two and a half months of the season, the Crusaders have won three in a row on home turf in the last two weeks after a 6-2 victory over the Lloydminster Bobcats Friday night.
The Crusaders were able to take a pair of two goal leads into the intermissions Friday night, 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 after the second.
Deklan Whillans, Erik Miller and Ryan Cox provided the scoring for the first three Crusader goals.
In the third period, the Crusaders and Ryan Cox took over, as the Crusaders leading scorer added two more goals to complete his second hat trick of the season, while Forward Arjun Atwal had a goal sandwiched in between the goals from Cox.
Captain Brendan Kallis put up a season high three assists in the win.
Goaltender Josh Dechaine made 34 saves for his first victory at the Sherwood Park Arena.
Sherwood Park gets back in the thick of things when they welcome the Bonnvyille Pontiacs for the first time this season, Sunday afternoon at the Sherwood Park Arena.
