With less than ten games remaining in the regular season, the Crusaders are beginning to play some of their most important hockey.
Friday’s matchup in Bonnyville was a tight checking affair, as just one goal on the powerplay from Bruce MacGregor in the first and a Cale Ashcroft rebound in the second was all the offence the Cru needed. Gus Bylin was perfect, surviving a 15-5 shot surge from Bonnyville in the third period, making 37 saves in total for his second shutout of the season.
The folling night in Sherwood Park was the complete opposite story. Kash Rasmussen opened the scoring on the powerplay with 79 seconds remaining in the first, and AJ Macaulay ripped home the second man advantage goal of the night just over a minutes into the second. Despite many schances from the Crusaders, the Pontiacs shut the door and Rasmussen would add an empty netter to seal the 3-0 shutout.
Sherwood Park heads out on the road to visit Blackfalds on Wednesday, before hosting Brooks on Friday.
