Crusaders Drop Another to Storm

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders were unable to build off a 2-0 first period lead Friday night in Grande Prairie as they allowed six unanswered goals, losing 6-2 to the Storm.

Forwards Arjun Atwal and Dylan Stewart scored just over two minutes apart late in the opening frame to give Sherwood Park an excellent start on the road at Revolution Arena.

Grande Prairie would cut the Crusader lead in half early the second with a goal from Jonothan Hader.  The Storm would tie things at two late in the second with a power play marker from Parker Smyth.

The Storm would not look back scoring early and an additional three times in the third period.  The reigning AJHL Player of the Month, Justin Bernier would score thirty seconds into the third giving Grande Prairie its first lead of the hockey game.

The Crusaders were unable to recover and make a game of things like they had in their two previous games in Grande Prairie as the Cruz Cote, Edouard Michaud and Eric Sorensen scored for the Storm to give them the 6-2 victory.

Sherwood Park would only get one power play opportunity Friday night.

Goaltender Joshua Dechaine made his return to the Crusader net, making 31 saves in the loss.

The Crusaders wrap up their three game in three night’s road trip Saturday when they make their final appearance of the year at the Scott Safety Centre to take on the Whitecourt Wolverines.
