On the heels of a big loss at the hands of Fort McMurray, the Sherwood Park Crusaders were looking to get back in the win column on Friday against the Drayton Valley Thunder.
The Cru kept it close, with no goals coming in the first and the shots at an even 11-11. Brody Tallman was the first to crack a goaltender, about seven minutes into the second, and Sherwood Park seemingly couldn’t get anything past Thunder netminder Jackson Berry. After some penatly trouble, Drayton Valley finally converted to give the Thunder a 3-0 lead, and added one more via the empty net. Cade Christenson managed to slip one by Berry for his first of the season, and first in the AJHL, late in the third but it was too little as Drayton Valley held on for the 4-1 win.
Sherwood Park now hosts the Spruce Grove Saints on Sunday to close out their five game homestand, puck drop is at 2 p.m.
