Lloydminster, SK: The Sherwood Park Crusaders saw their four-game win streak end Wednesday night after they lost 5-2 to the Lloydminster Bobcats.
Lloydminster opened the scoring with under seven minutes played in the first period. Alex Danis converted from Brendan Morrow and Cameron Aucoin?s assists. Aucoin then became the goalscorer before the end of the period, shooting past Jordan Frey to double the lead.
Jared Miller scored the Bobcats? third two minutes into the second period, forcing the Cru to swap Frey for Carter Gylander (Colgate University). Lloydminster?s dominance continued, and they made it 4-0 thanks to Morrow?s goal.
The Crusaders came to life in the third period, scoring twice. Reid Irwin (University of Denver) scored on the power play, with Bryce Bader and Carter Savoie (University of Denver) getting the helpers. Arjun Atwal scored to cut the deficit.
However, the comeback was not to be. Tanner Mack rounded off Lloydminster?s night with an empty netter.
Up next for the Crusaders is a trip far up North to take on the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Friday night. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch the game live at Average Joe?s Sports Bar.
