Crusaders fall to Saints to wrap up home stand

The Sherwood Park Crusaders’ woes continue after a tough Sunday matchup against the Spruce Grove Saints.

Luigi Benincasa opened the scoring just under 90 seconds in, and Jaron Desnoyers went off for four minutes after a slew foot. The Crusaders killed it off and brought back the momentum, but Benincasa’s goal stood as the lone marker until the third period; Carter Chorney nets one on the powerplay, but Ewna MacPherson and Brett Pfoh convert to make it a 3-1 contest. The Saints would go on to add an empty netter to take the final meeting of the season in the Randy Rosen Rink 4-1 and hand the Cru their 3rd straight loss. Gus Bylin was impressive again, making 36 saves in the afternoon.

Sherwood Park heads back on the road Wednesday where they will take on the Bonnyville Pontiacs, that game can be found on HockeyTV, puck drop is at 7 p.m.
