SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders staved off elimination and forced a fifth and deciding game in their North Division Quarter Final series with an 8-5 win on home ice over the Grande Prairie Storm on Sunday night.
Things got started the way they have the entire series with the Storm scoring the game’s first goal as Connor Blake got his first of the series.
The Crusaders would respond as Defenseman Ben McLeod would tie the game 1-1 four minutes later, on a feed from the corner courtesy of Deklan Whillans.
Sherwood Park would explode for three more in the first period and take a 4-2 lead into the intermission.
The Crusaders added their fifth goal early in the second period thanks to Ryan Cox and chase Storm Goaltender Ethan Slobodzian after five goals on 12 shots.
Sherwood Park would poor it on in the second period adding three more goals including a pair from Erik Miller and Ashton Casault’s first of the post season to give the Crusaders and 8-3 lead after forty minutes.
The Storm would make the score a little bit closer with a pair of goals but Sherwood Park was too much for the Storm in game four.
Game five will go Wednesday at 7:30pm in Grande Prairie to decide who will face the Spruce Grove Saints in the second round of the 2018 Inter Pipeline Playoffs.
