The Sherwood Park Crusaders got back to winning ways on Military Appreciation Night beating the Drayton Valley Thunder 2-1.
It was a quiet first couple of periods with both goaltenders being the stars of the show with neither of them allowing anything by. In goal for the Crusaders was rookie Carter Gylander who made his fifth appearance of the season. The Beaumont native made 27 saves on the night and allowed on one goal for the third time this season.
Offensively, Sherwood Park had numerous chances to open the scoring in the first couple of periods, but the puck did not bounce their way. The first score of the game came early on in the third from the newest Crusader Cody Laskosky. Carter Savoie quickly followed that goal on the powerplay for his team-leading ninth of the season.
The Crusaders are next in action on Saturday against the Grande Prairie Storm. Fans can catch that game at Average Joe's Sports Bar in Sherwood Park.
