Crusaders Get Jette

SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders have acquired Tyler Jette after he was reassigned by the Tri-City Americans of the WHL.

Jette, a 19-year old defenceman from Farmington, Minnesota, played three seasons of high school hockey with Farmington High Tigers of the USHS. During his time there, the 6’2 209-pound defenceman played in 90 games and got his name on the boxscore 72 times.

Year Team GP G A PTS
2013-14 Farmington High Tigers 25 11 7 18
2014-15 Farmington High Tigers 25 10 18 28
2015-16 Farmington High Tigers 22 5 17 22

The Farmington native also played two games for the Bloomington Thunder of the USHL – now known as the Central Illinois Flying Aces – in his senior year of high school.

“He’s a defensive style defensemen that doesn’t mind moving into the rush. Certainly thinking defense first, saw him at practice and has a great stick”, said Crusaders GM Kyle Chase. “He hasn’t played in a year-and-a-half, but we feel he’s going to fit in well with the group of players we have here.”

In 2016, the Farmington High senior was one of ten finalists for the 32nd Mr. Hockey Award. An award given to the most outstanding high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota. A number of current NHLers have been nominated for this accolade including Jake Gardiner (Toronto Maple Leafs), Tyler Pitlick (Dallas Stars), and David Backes (Boston Bruins).

After being nominated for the Mr. Hockey Award, Jette signed a contract with the Tri-City Americans in September of 2016.

Jette will be the fourth player to join the Crusaders from the WHL this season following in the footsteps of goaltender Josh Dechaine and forwards Erik Miller and Arjun Atwal.

You can catch Jette and the Crusaders in action this weekend against the Drumheller Dragons and Olds Grizzlys. Both of those game will be played at Average Joe’s in Sherwood Park, the official bar of the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
