Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders defeated the Lloydminster Bobcats by a score of 4-0 earlier today in front of a packed Sherwood Park Arena. The organization hosted their third annual Hockey Hooky game which saw over 1000 students come out to cheer them on.
After a scoreless first period, Jarred White didn’t make the kids wait much longer to blow the roof off the SPA when he netted at the 1:40 of the second period. That goal tied his career high of 12 goals which he scored in 57 games last season. He now has 12 goals in 21 games this season for the Crusaders.
Sherwood Park added two more in the second period. Brett Wieschorster (University of Vermont) tipped a Max Wutzke point shot by Garett Larsen in the Bobcats goal for his third of the season. Later on, Michael Benning (University of Denver) took advantage of the scrambling Bobcats netminder and fired a shot on goal after the Llodyminster defenceman knock his goaltender out of position.
The Crusaders added one more in the third period when Jordan Frey caught the Bobcats on a change. Frey fired the puck down the ice to Blake Sydlowski who made no mistake scoring his third of the season.
Along with the assist, Frey picked up his second shutout of the season after he turned aside all 16 shots he faced. He now moves to 7-1-0 on the season with a 1.68 GAA and a 0.927 SV%.
Next up, the Crusaders host the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Remembrance Day Monday at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for that game here.
