Crusaders Kick Off Movember

Things are about to get hairy for the Sherwood Park Crusaders – but only in the best way.

After a successful 2016/2017 campaign that saw the Crusaders raise $10,196, the Crusaders are kicking off their annual #Movember fundraiser in order to raise money for the Movember Foundation Canada, a foundation dedicated to raising awareness and funds for male-specific cancers and mental health issues.

“It's a campaign that means a lot to everyone in the room”, said Crusaders marketing and media director Spencer Love of the initiative. “Most, if not everyone in the organization knows someone or has known someone affected by cancer. We were really, really proud of what we raised last season and we're really hoping to take it to the next level this year. It's something that's fun for everyone to take part in, and it's obviously a great cause.”

As part of the #Movember fundraiser, Crusaders players and staff will be growing moustaches for the entire month and raising money individually with all proceeds going to the Movember Foundation. Fans are encouraged to keep up with their favourite Crusaders players at https://moteam.co/sherwood-park-crusaders?mc=1

In addition to fundraising online, each Crusaders home game thorughout the month of November will be featuring $5 tickets, with any proceeds raised contributing to the team's overall fundraising total. The Crusaders are approaching the month with a goal of $15,000 raised; something that Love thinks is definitely possible.

“We were really happy with last year's results,” continued Love. “We were able to place in the top 125 teams across Canada, which is absolutely incredible for a first-year project. We know it's going to be a challenge (raising that much more) but everyone seems really eager to beat last season. It should be fun!”
