Crusaders Kick Off Weekend With Win

SHERWOOD PAR, AB – Affiliate Goaltender Carter Gylander made 24 saves in his first career AJHL start as the Sherwood Park Crusaders picked up a 4-1 victory over the Olds Grizzlys Friday night at the Sherwood Park Arena.

The Grizzlys gave all th Crusaders could handle in trying to avoid their tenth loss in a row but were unable to generate offense after holding the Crusaders at bay after a very fast first period.

Sherwood Park would open the scoring almost eight minutes into the middle frame as Eric Blanchette would beat Grizzly Goaltender Andrew Henderson from the bottom left circle.

The Crusaders would increase their lead in the third period courtesy of Jacob Franczak as the Grizzlys failed to clear their zone almost four minutes into the period.

Olds would break Gylander's shutout bid at 13:36 of the third and get within a goal, courtesy of Cayden Kraus.

Sherwood Park would deliver it's final blow with a pair of goals in a span of 1:12 as Ty Readman gave the Crusaders 3-1 lead with four minutes to play and Defenseman Tyler Jette would score his first AJHL goal at 17:12 to top off the scoring and give the Crusaders a 4-1 win.

The Crusaders return to action Sunday afternoon as the host the league's top team in the Okotoks Oilers.
