Crusaders Lose A Tight One In Brooks

Brooks, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders fell just short in from Brooks in what was an extremely close match against the Bandits.

The Crusaders were without three forwards which forced them to play Billy Sowa and Mathew Shatsky as forwards, and also call up Nolan Wutzke for his second career AJHL game.

The Bandits opened up the scoring late in the first period. Sean Chisholm jumped on a loose puck and fired it by Carter Gylander (Colgate University) to make it 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

Neither team could solve the other in the second, and it wasn?t until the third that another goal would happen. It was Randy Hernandez who got that goal doubling the Bandits lead.

The Crusaders did get on the board late in the third period when Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville) scored his 27th of the season. However, it wasn?t enough as the Crusaders fell 2-1 suffering only their seventh loss of the season.

Next up, the Crusaders head to Calgary on Sunday. Fans can catch the game live at Average Joe?s Sports Bar on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park at 2:00 p.m.
