Sherwood Park went into Whitecourt Wednesday evening and looked to build on their win against the Grande Prairie Storm, against a Wolverines team that had lost their previous three games.
Austin Cook opened the scoring with his second in as many games, but Cooper Smyl responded with one just a couple minutes later. Mitchell Joss collected his fourth of the season in between two Wolverines goals the second period and the Crusaders head into the third down two. Cale Ashcroft connects with Zac Maxwell and Brett Ursulak on the powerplay to bring the Cru within one, and Evan Arnold grabs a late marker to tie the game up at four a side. Overtime solved nothing but a few big saves from starter Gus Bylin made sure of that, and Chase Broda had the lone goal in the shootout to secure the 5-4 decision for the Wolverines. Bylin ended up making 38 saves in the loss.
Sherwood Park now returns home to host the Okotoks Oilers and Olds Grizzlys on November 13th and 14th; Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen will have the call on HockeyTV, and tickets are on sale here.
