The Alberta Junior Hockey League has announced its 2014-15 Award Finalists. Among the nominated is Crusaders Goaltender Tommy Nixon for the Friends Of The Alberta Junior Hockey League Trophy, which is awarded to the League's Top Goaltender.
Battling injury throughout the season and a trip to the World Junior A Challenge representing Team Canada West, Nixon has appeared in 19 Games this season picking up 12 Wins, 3 Shutouts and posting a 2.23 Goals Against Average and a .923 Save Percentage.
“These awards are voted on so that tells you that other GM and Coaches in the AJHL must still consider him one of the league's best considering he has been out for over 2 months.” Says Crusaders GM and Head Coach Tim Fragle.
The Holy Cross commit is hoping to return to action soon in time for the playoffs after being out of action with the Cru since December 5th.
“I'm definitely surprised. It's pretty amazing that I can get the nod with limited games played, especially knowing how many talented Goalies there are in this league. I'm looking forward to healing up and get back in net, so I can not only battle for some W's, but also some Home Ice in the Playoffs and now this award.” Says Nixon
