Crusaders Run Into Hot Goaltender

SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusader threw everything they could and the kitchen sink at Drayton Valley Thunder Goaltender Tymen Edelkoort III but failed to pick up their third win in a row as they fall 6-4 to the Drayton Valley Thunder on Friday night.

Timely goaltending and scoring would be the recipe for victory for the Thunder as Edelkoort made 48 saves on 52 Crusaders shots, while goals in the first five minutes of each period for the Thunder would give them their fourth victory on the season and first for newly hired Head Coach Ryan Rechner.

Forwards Ryan Cox and Erik Miller led the way offensively with two points each, Cox with two goals and Miller a pair of assists.  Ashton Cassault would score for the second straight game and William Zapernick extended his point streak to five games.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday night when they host the Whitecourt Wolverines for the third and final time in 2017-18.

BOXSCORE: Thunder 6 Crusaders 5
