SHERWOOD PARK, AB – For the second time this season, the Sherwood Park Crusaders earned a shutout victory on home ice, this time around it was a 4-0 over the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Family Day afternoon.
The Crusaders picked up their second straight victory for the first time since January 13th and clinched the season series against the Pontiacs 4-2-0.
Forward Ryan Cox had his fourth multi-goal game of the season by scoring a pair of goals in just over two minutes after the half way point of the first period.
Sherwood Park dominated the special teams department, scoring two goals on the power play and adding their third goal shorthanded, late in the second period, thanks to Forward Arjun Atwal.
The Crusaders went two for four on the man-advantage while the Pontiacs were scoreless on five opportunities.
Sherwood Park Goaltender Brandon Vogel made 25 saves for his second shutout of the season and his 17th victory of 2017-18.
The Crusaders are still in the mix when it comes to securing home ice advantage for the first round of the Interpipeline Playoffs, as they remain three points back of Grande Prairie with five games remaining.
Sherwood Park returns to action Friday, in a crucial matchup against Lloydminster at the Sherwood Park Arena.
