Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of forward Carmelo Crandell (2005) from the St Albert Raiders for the 2021-22 season.
“Carmelo (Crandell) is a player we have wanted to lock up for the past year now,” said General Manager and Head Coach Adam Manah. “His best attribute as a player is how he can think the game. When we first saw him at our Summer Camp last year, we knew he could play at 15. He is dynamic when he has the puck, whether being a puck distributor or shooting bullets. He can do it all. He’s a very well-rounded player that takes pride in playing 200 feet and can produce on the offensive side of the puck.
Crandell is a 5’11″, 150 lb forward from St Albert, Alberta. Last season, Crandall played six games for the U18s, scoring three goals and four points. The year before, the St Albert native captained the U15 AAA team. He finished the year as their leading scoring with 30 goals and 48 points in 33 games. In the WHL bantam draft, Crandell was selected 134th overall (7th round) by the Saskatoon Blades.
“He brings a smile on his face every day he comes to the rink and is passionate about wanting to take that next step in his career of playing in the NCAA,” continued Manah. “We expect him to take big steps in his first year with our team.”
The Crusaders would like to welcome Carmelo and the rest of the Crandall family to the organization.
