Crusaders Sign Lucas Veilleux (’05)

Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of Lucas Veilleux (’05) for the 2023/2024 season.

“Lucas was a highly coveted player and we are very excited that he chose to be a Crusader,” stated Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “Lucas is coming from a very good program in St. Andrew’s, which has produced a lot of really good players and does a really good job of preparing their players for the next level. As good of a hockey player as Lucas is, he is an even better person who will be a great fit in our dressing room. We are excited to have Lucas and his family join the Crusader family.”

“Lucas is a talented player that plays a powerful style,” echoed Crusaders head coach Evan McFeeters. “He has a pedigree of producing offensively while being responsible, strong, and hard to play against away from the puck. Lucas committed to Colgate University early this season and we will look for him to be an impactful player in our lineup for next year.”

Veilleux, 17, joins the Crusaders after two seasons with St. Andrews College. In his two seasons with St. Andrews, the Ottawa, Ontario native has collected a total of 79 points (31 goals, 48 assists) in 93 games. This season, Veilleux was a point-per-game player, scoring 54 points in just 52 games.

As previously mentioned, Veilleux has already committed to Colgate University (NCAA, Division 1) for the 2025/2026 season. Last season, led by former Crusaders Carter Gylander and Reid Irwin, Colgate captured the ECAC Hockey Championship for the first time since 1990.

The Crusaders would like to welcome Lucas and the entire Veilleux family to the organization.
