Crusaders Snap Losing Streak

LLOYDMINSTER, AB – Ryan Cox has certainly made an impression in his frist two games since being acquired by the Crusaders.  The St. Albert product scored his second goal since being traded to Sherwood Park and also netted the shootout winner against the Lloydminster Bobcats to give the Crusaders a 4-3 victory, ending the team's five game skid.

Sherwood Park opened the scoring less than two minutes into the second period, courtesy of Dylan Stewart, who scored in his second straight game.  Cox would score his goal at the 9:50 mark of the middle frame, and Brandon Wallis gave the Cru a 3-1 lead with 4:01 remaining in the middle frame.

The Bobcats would claw their way back into the game with a late goal in the second and an early one in the third from Zach Webb and Kobe Walker.

Goaltender Brandon Vogel made 35 saves for his sixth win of the season including seven in the overtime period.

With the win the Crusaders pull ahead of the Bobcats by six points for sixth in the North Division with 17 and a record of 8-10-1.  Sherwood Park trails the Bonnyville Pontiacs by two points for fifth in the division.

The Crusaders return to play Wednesday when they travel to Drayton Valley to open up back to back games against the Thunder with the second being Friday in Sherwood Park.
