Crusaders Split the Showcase

The Sherwood Park Crusaders walked into Brooks for the AJHL Showcase and walked out with a respectable 1-1 record over the weekend.

Saturday saw a hard fought matchup between the Crusaders and the host team, the Brooks Bandits. Logan Hauer opened the scoring with a power play marker and Evan Arnold tallied his first of the season, but the Bandits proved to be too much as they took home the 4-2 decision. Gus Bylin made 33 saves in the loss.

Looking to take some positives into Sunday, Sherwood Park faced off against the Drumheller Dragons. Zac Maxwell notched his first of the season, but Drumheller exploded back for three unanswered goals. Not to go down quietly, Maxwell got himself another goal and Tyler Miller also contributed a late goal to tie the game. The two teams traded goals in the third, and overtime solved nothing, so a shootout was held; Maxwell and Logan Hauer each scored to send the Crusaders home with a 5-4 win. Marek Pocherewny made 24 saves en route to the victory.

Now on the back half of their eight game road trip, Sherwood Park heads to Lloydminster on October 6th to take on the Bobcats.
