Crusaders Start Season 2-0

SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders got off on the right foot to start the 2017-18 AJHL regular season with two victories over the Drayton Valley Thunder, 7-4 and 5-2 on Friday & Saturday night.

The sweep of the home and home was dominated by the line of Merritt Oszytko, Ty Readman and Brandon Wallis.  The trio combined for a total 14 points and all are in the top six in AJHL scoring with Readman and Oszytko tied for first with five points.

 

It was a great weekend for Crusader debuts as defenseman Tyler Pang picked up four points, including his first two AJHL goals on Friday night.  Rookie Garret Clegg also picked up his first 2 AJHL goals on Friday and Saturday.

Goaltender Brandon Vogel earned both victories on the weekend, stopping 50 pucks on 56 shots.

 

The Crusaders begin the second week of the season with an afternoon affair Thursday at the Sherwood Park Arena against the Camrose Kodiaks as a part of Hockey Hookie Day in Sherwood Park.  Puck drop is at noon.
