Crusaders Streak Ends

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders had their season high three game winning streak ended by the Grande Prairie Storm, 5-3 on the road Thursday night.

The Crusaders played from behind all night, allowing the opening goal at the 14:50 mark of the first.  Rookie Forward Garrett Clegg would tie the game at one late in the first, but that would as close as the Crusaders would get to the Storm Thursday night.

The first of two back breakers would come over eight minutes into the second period when Grande Prairie would score a pair of goals 13 seconds apart courtesy of Edouard Michaud and Zachary Okabe.

Sherwood Park Forward Ryan Cox would score his first of two, to get the Crusaders back within one at 11:31 of the middle frame.

The second back breaker for the Crusaders came less than two minutes into the third when they would allow a short handed goal to the Storm as Logan Moon would restore Grande Prairie's two goal lead.

The Crusaders would respond a few minutes later as Ryan Cox scored his second of the game, giving him a total of 28 on the season, 11 with Sherwood Park.

The Storm would ice things with an empty net goal thanks to Zachary Okabe, giving Grande Prairie the 5-3 victory.

The two team reunite Friday night at 7:30pm for the Crusaders final appearance at Revolution Arena this season.
