For just the second time this season, the Sherwood Park Crusaders have won back to back games and now have points in their last four contests.
Saturday’s matchup against the Okotoks Oilers was a statement game for the Cru, coming off a heartbreaking 5-4 shootout loss to the Whtecourt Wolverines. Jaron Desnoyers got his fourth of the season to get Sherwood Park on the board first, Bruce MacGregor continued his hot streak with another to close out the period, and it was all green from there. Gus Bylin made the start, stopping 25 of 26 shots en route to a 6-1 victory.
Sunday against the Olds Grizzlys was a little closer. Mitchell Joss got things started in the first, Cameron Rimstad tied things up early in the second, but Joss potted two more for the hat trick; Olds managed to get one more courtesy of Noah Hackett, and that was all they could muster. A five minute penalty by Tijs Vreys allowed Sherwood Park to score twice more, and Marek Pocherewny shut the door, making 24 saves in the 5-2 win.
The Crusaders return to the Randy Rosen Rink on Wednesday, where they will host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for the first time this season.
