SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders have traded ’99 forward Deklan Whillans to the Camrose Kodiaks in exchange for future considerations.
The 2018/19 season was Whillans second year with the Crusaders and was known for being a physical presence on the ice. In year one with the organization, the Manning, AB, native played in 38 regular season games scoring 3 goals and collected 88 penalty minutes. In the postseason, Whillans picked up his first career assists in the first round series against the Grande Prairie Storm. This season, he dressed in eight games but did not score a single point.
Off the ice, Whillans became a big part of the Sherwood Park community, often volunteering his time to reading to elementary schools, help out in gym classes playing floor hockey, or taking pictures with fans in the stands. Last season, he was the co-winner the Community Crusaders award for all the hard work he put into volunteering.
The Crusaders would like to thank Deklan for his services to the team and the community. We wish him the best of luck for the future.
