The Crusaders welcomed back the Whitecourt Wolverines to the Sherwood Park Arena for the second time in less than a week.
Carter Gylander got the start in this contest, and both captain Tyler Jette and Arjun Atwal made their long-awaited returns to the lineup for the Friday night tilt.
The game didn’t start well for the Crusaders on the scoresheet. Despite dominating the opening few minutes of the game, Wolverines forward Tommy Cardinal found himself clean through on Gylander and made no mistake giving the Whitecourt a 1-0 lead. The Wolverines maintained their attack, but the Crusaders were able to hold them off for the remainder to period keeping it a 1-0 game.
In the second period, Sherwood Park was able to gain the lead thanks to goals from William Zapernick and Arjun Atwal. The first came from Zapernick a little over 8 minutes into the period. Some great work by Jack Hamly on the boards and a cross-crease from Atwal found Zapernick on the back post. The second was from Atwal on his return after he wired a quick wrist shot bar down on Tye Morin.
The final period had a couple of goals in it too. The Crusaders third came very quickly into the period from Carter Savoie who scored from an almost impossible angle. And finally, some great passing down the ice from Clegg-Bowman-Savoie was finished off by Garrett Clegg who showed great patience to drag the puck around the defenceman.
Carter Gylander picked up his ninth win of the season at the end of this contest. Also, Arjun Atwal extended his points streak to a league-high 12 games.
