SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of forward Ethan Merner (’06) for the 2023/2024 season. Merner, a forward who plays all three positions, is committed to Merrimack College (NCAA, Div. 1) for the 2024/2025 season.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to play for a very good organization in Sherwood Park in the AJHL,” stated Merner, “where I will have the ability to continue to develop my game and prepare me for my transition to play at Merrimack College in the NCAA,”
“Ethan will be a great fit in our dressing room and on the ice,” commented Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “He is a high-skill and IQ player that is versatile by being able to play centre or wing. We are very excited to add him, as he helps make us a deeper team going into next season.
Merner, a native of Kelowna, BC, played the 2022/2023 season with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. In 38 games with the organization, Merner potted a total of 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists), with an additional goal in three playoff games.
Prior to his time with the Vipers, the 5’11 forward was a part of the Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford, BC. In his three years in the program, Merner collected 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists) in just 44 total games.
The Crusaders would like to welcome Ethan and the Merner family into the organization.
