Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that defenceman Ty Ettinger (2000) has committed to Red Deer College for the 2021-22 season.
“Ty has been a strong leader in our organization over the past year, and we are extremely happy for him,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “It’s well deserved we would like to congratulate Ty and his family on his commitment to Red Deer College.”
Red Deer College, located in Red Deer, Alberta, is an ACAC program. The Kings are coached by Trevor Keeper who has been with the school since the 2013-14 season. In 2020, Keeper helped lead the Kings to a 20-6-0 season which was their best since his first year.
Ettinger joined the Crusaders last January after spending time with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons and in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Victoria Royals, Vancouver Giants and Winnipeg Ice. The Ardrossan native has played in 17 regular-season games for Sherwood Park scoring three goals and eight points while collecting 22 penalty minutes.
Ettinger is now the third Crusader from the 2020-21 roster to commit to a post-secondary program joining Ty Mueller (University of Nebraska-Omaha) and Mathew Shatsky (College of Holy Cross).
The Crusaders organization would like to congratulate Ty and his family on this achievement.
