Ryan Kruper is a Sherwood Park product who was lucky enough to stay at home for his junior career.
Kruper endured five seasons with the Crusaders which saw him score 142 goals over his time. During his first few years with the organization, Kruper played in a depth role for the Crusaders, collecting 53 points across that time. His final year with his hometown Crusaders was when he really broke out. Kruper competed in all 60 regular season games in the 2015-16 season whilst leading the team in points with 79: third overall in AJHL. His performances from that year helped him secure his spot on the AJHL (North) All-Star team making it back-to-back years the Crusaders had a player selected, the other being Tommy Nixon. Kruper’s time with the Crusaders finished with him earning a scholarship to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Kruper has been successful so far in his collegiate career with the RIT Tiger, playing in 26 games scoring 16 points along the way. He saw his career high in points in a game against Army when he had four apples in a 6-2 victory. He actually lead the team in plus/minus by the end of the season with a +11 rating.
Kruper has developed into an excellent hockey player and should have himself a successful career.
We hope to see him around the rink sooner rather than later.
