Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of forward Colby Garner (2003) from the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA program.
“The thing that Colby does really well is how responsible he is without the puck,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “He is always below the puck in his own end and is one of the hardest working guys when tracking back into the D-Zone. He is a complete player. We are excited to be adding Colby into our line up not only for 2021-22 but the rest of this year as well.”
Garner is a 5’10″, 170 lb forward from Taber, Alberta. He spent the past three seasons in the Lethbridge Hurricanes program in the AEHL.
In the brief 2020-21 season, Garner put together a point per game season with one goal and five points in as many games. In his last full season, the Hurricanes forward scored eight goals and 25 points in his first season of U18 AAA hockey. He was also a point per game scorer for the Hurricanes in the postseason with three goals and eight points.
“We are extremely happy to have Colby and his family join the Crusaders,” said Head Coach Adam Manah. “Colby does a lot of good things when he’s on the ice. He has tremendous vision and creativity with the puck 5 on 5 and on the PP. He is more of a pass first guy but can provide that scoring touch with his ability to get the puck off his stick quickly. He’s solid in the face-off circle as well.”
Garner joins the Crusaders with one junior game already to his name. He dressed in a game for the Okotoks Oilers last season and picked up an assist.
The Crusaders would like to welcome Colby and the Garner family to the organization.
