Sherwood Park, AB: The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced earlier today that Carter Gylander was one of five finalists for their 2019/20 Top Goaltender award.
On February 27th, Gylander became the 5h goaltender in team history to be named the AJHL’s Top Goaltender. In 40 games he posted a 2.10 GAA along with a 0.923 save percentage and a record of 34-5-0 with three shutouts along the way. He was also the winner of the Top Team Goaltender award along with his teammate Jordan Frey.
Recently, the Colgate University commit was named the goaltender of the Viterra North All-League Team.
Throughout the season, Gylander represented Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge and also travelled to Sochi, Russia to play for Team AJHL at the Junior Club World Champions.
At the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Gylander was drafted 191st overall by the Detroit Red Wings.
Gylander will go up against Clay Stevenson (Coquitlam Express – BCHL), Devon Levi (Carleton Place Canadians – CCHL), Matt Lenz (Steinbach Pistons – MJHL), and Owen Say (Powassan Voodoos – NOJHL).
