Gylander named Goalie of the Week and Franczak scores first NCAA goal

We’ll start this week’s alumni check in New York state with Carter Gylander the Colgate University Raiders. Gylander started in four games for the Raiders over the past two weeks and came out with a 1-2-1 record. He was named the ECAC Goalie of the Week after his performances against St Lawrence University. The former Crusaders posted a 0.952 save percentage and 1.45 GAA. So far in his collegiate career, Gylander has gotten off to a great start and has a 0.912 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA.

Jacob Franczak opened up his NCAA scoring account over the weekend. Franczak buried his first two collegiate goals in a 3-2 overtime win over Army. The Edmonton native has played in all eight of Long Island’s games this season.
Ty Readman also scored his first of the season recently. Readman got on the boxscore against Lake Superior State when he opened up the first period scoring. A couple of games later, he picked up his first assist of the season against Bowling Green on Saturday.

Also finding the back of the net were Reid Irwin (University of Denver) and Zach Kaiser (UMass Lowell). Irwin scored his third of the season last night versus North Dakota University, and Kaiser’s goal came back on January 4th against Maine.

Ryan Cox (Niagara), Garrett Clegg (Robert Morris), Will Zapernick (Vermont), Carter Savoie (Denver), and Jarred White (Western Michigan) all played in NCAA games too.

Over in Europe, Braden Christoffer and Cody Kunyk have been in action.

Christoffer is still playing his hockey in the Austrian League for HC Innsbruck. He has 13 goals and 34 points in 29 games for them along with 102 PIMs. As for Kunyk, he’s with Karpat in the Liiga in Finland. He currently has six goals and 17 points in 20 games for them.
