JOB OPPORTUNITY – Head Athletic Therapist & Equipment Manager, Full Time

General Statement of Duties

Responsible for administering medical response, injury prevention, and therapy support for Sherwood Park Crusaders players. In addition to leading all aspects of athletic therapy, will also support athlete strength and conditioning program including nutrition and recovery plans. Duties extend to managing team and player equipment including all necessities for competition. Collaborate with the Head Coach in setting the overall plan for the health, safety, physical treatment, injury prevention, and physical development of the players. 

Primary Responsibilities: Works and reports directly to Head Coach and Associate GM: 

Recognizing, assessing, and treatment of injuries prior to, during, and after all practices and games. 

Design and implement injury prevention programming of warm-ups and cool downs for practices, games and training.

Create, implement and manage a fully comprehensive therapy, injury rehabilitation and recovery plan for all player injuries.

Coordinate and administer baseline medical testing of each player, documentation of athlete development including fitness test scores.

Schedule medical appointments, manage medications, and consult with team physicians on injury diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention.

Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and charting for each player including medical history, injuries, treatments and external medical consultations. Providing a daily report to the coaching staff.

Assist strength & conditioning staff for workouts and additional training methods.

Create an Emergency Action Plan for both practice and game day situations.

Submit all insurance claims for the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

Control, distribute, maintain inventory and ordering of all medical supplies and consumables. 

Keep an up to date inventory of all equipment and player apparel.

Coordinate with general managers on equipment and apparel budgets and order process. 

Maintain team equipment: sharpen skates, perform minor fixes, cleaning and laundry throughout the season.

Oversee day-to-day organization, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities and equipment within the dressing room, medical / equipment rooms, and the gym facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Athletic Therapist “CAT(c)” certification, in good standing with CATA.

Current and valid First Responder (3-year expiry) and Basic Life Support Certification.

CSCS (certified strength and conditioning specialist) or CPT (Certified personal trainer)certifications are an asset.

Hockey Canada University – Online Safety Person Training

Minimum 2 years prior experience in junior, college or professional hockey is preferred.

Experience with equipment repairs and skate sharpening considered an asset.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and orally. 

Detail oriented with great organizational skills.

Excellent work ethic, positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.

Maintain a professional approach and represent the community well.
