Longtime Crusader Volunteer Passes Away

The Sherwood Park Crusaders would like to pass on the most sincere condolences to the family of Vern Schultz.  The longtime Crusader volunteer passed away last week at the age of 74.  Vern could always be seen at the Sherwood Park Arena operating the Crusader goal horn…whether it was a big save, cleared puck out of the Defensive Zone on a Penalty Kill and for every single Crusader goal, Vern would sound the horn loud and proud.  Vern would always take the time to talk to the players and coaches and wish them good luck.  In addition to Vern’s volunteer contributions, an award in his name is given out annually to a volunteer at the Crusaders year end banquet.

Vern Schultz

Once again, we are saddened by the loss of Vern, but his memory and dedication to the Sherwood Park Crusaders over the many years will always be heard when the horn goes off at the Sherwood Park Arena.
