Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of defenceman Brandon McCartney for the 2020-21 season.

McCartney, 18, joins the Crusaders from the Winnipeg Wild (Midget AAA) of the MMHL.

“Brandon (McCartney) is a very good skating puck-moving defenceman with an offensive upside,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “He defends well, plays a solid 200ft game and is a player with a strong character that will fit well in our group.”

The 6’3, 190 lbs defenceman dressed in 45 regular-season games for the Wild last season. He scored a career-high 12 points and 47 points.

McCartney was teammates with current Crusaders defenceman Mathew Shatsky who was a member of the Winnipeg Wild from 2017 to 2019.

The Crusaders would like to welcome Brandon, his parents Jacquie and Blair, and the rest of the McCartney family to the organization.
