Oilers Edge Out Cru

OKOTOKS, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders rebounded well after a 6-1 loss in Brooks on Friday, but it wasn’t enough as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Okotoks Oilers Saturday night on the road.

The Crusaders were able to keep pace with the Oilers once again, even at one point leading the hockey game.

After Okotoks had scored the only goal of the first period, Forward Tyson Gruninger found the scoresheet for the second night in a row for the Crusaders just over a minute into the second period to tie the game at one.

Over six minutes later, the Crusaders would get their lead courtesy of William Zapernick.

The lead would be short lived as the Oilers would score twice in a span of 43 seconds as Oiler Forward Tanner Laderoute tied things up at two and then at 13:33 Marc Pasemko regained the lead for Okotoks at 3-2.

The eventual game winning goal would come off the stick of Laderoute at 15:56 of the third period.

Sherwood Park would not go quiet into the night as Brandon Wallis made things intersesting as he scored his ninth of the season, matching his total from last year, to get the Crusaders within one.

Unfortunately, the Crusaders had no magic left in them to tie the game up at four and end up losing their fourth in a row.

Okotoks would claim their 13th win in a row after the 4-3 victory at the Pason Centennial Arena.

Sherwood Park finishes off their weekend trip with an afternoon affair in Calgary against the Mustangs, capping off a six game stretch against the Viterra South Division.
