The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that goaltender Matt Berlin (‘98) and defenceman Tyler Jette (‘98) are returning to the organization after spending time in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Berlin was with the Kootenay Ice last season. In 13 games for the Ice, the Edmonton native had a 3.62 GAA along with a 0.875 SV%. Berlin most recently played for the Crusaders in the 2016-17 season, dressing in three games and holding a 2.98 GAA along with a 0.902 SV%. He would finish that season with the Seattle Thunderbirds, who went on to become WHL and Memorial Cup champions.
“We’re glad to have the two of them (Berlin and Jette) back with the organization”, said general manager, Kyle Chase. “They’re going to be valuable players to our lineup as we continue on into the regular season”.
Jette played his hockey last season with the Sherwood Park Crusaders and was named the teams Co-Defenceman of the Year along with Ben McLeod. He played in 21 games for Sherwood Park, scoring 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) and became a real leader both on and off the ice for the team. Jette’s strong regular season play followed him into the postseason where he played top minutes for the Crusaders and scored two points in five games in the first round against the Grande Prairie Storm. The Farmington native spent time with the Tri-City Americans after the Crusaders playoff exit and was with them throughout training camp.
Crusader fans can catch the new additions as well as the rest of the team in action at home on Wednesday night against the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Tickets for that game are available right here.
